In a major upset, GM Yuri Solodovnichenko of Ukraine lost to International Master Atanu Lahiri in the third round of the 7th Parsvnath International Open chess tournament, in New Delhi on Monday.

At top of the table, second seed Yuriy Kuzubov of Ukraine continued to cruise with a win over Rahul Shetty of Indian Airlines. National champion Surya Shekhar Ganguly overcame IM Anup Deshmukh of Life Insurance Corporation while local favourite GM Parimarjan Negi got the better of FIDE Master Akshat Khamparia.

Earlier, O.T. Anilkumar toppled top seed Alexender Areshchenko of Ukraine in the second round.

Round 3 results: GM Yuriy Kuzubov (Ukr) (3) bt M Rahul Shetty (2), IM Anup Deshmukh (2) lost to GM Surya Shekhar Ganguly (3), GM Parimarjan Negi (3) bt FM Akshat Khamparia (2), IM Atanu Lahiri (3) bt Yuri Solodovnichenko (Ukr) (2), R Premnath (2) lost to GM Abhijit Kunte (3), GM Anuar Ismagambetov (Kaz) (3) bt FM J Ramakrishna (2).
