We take a look at some of the most magnificent palaces around the world that deserve a visit. The Mysore Palace, Mysore, India: The sprawling palace, which was the former seat of the Wodeyar Maharajas, is located in the Mysore city. A three-storied structure with a 44 meter (145 ft ) central tower, the palace was gutted by fire in 1897. It was then restored in 1912 by English architect Henry Irwin. Stained glass, mirrors, mosaic floors and a series of paintings mark the interiors of the palace.

Topkapi Palace, Istanbul, Turkey: This Palace was the residence of the Ottoman sultans for approximately 400 years and gives a glimpse into their opulent lives. Now converted into a museum, the palace was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. Primarily, it has a complex divided into four main courtyards and many smaller buildings.
