3,267 complaints against Pune university’s exam centre

As many as 3,267 complaints from students have been received by the Savitribai Phule Pune University’s (SPPU) examination department within one week of the commencement of the helpline number by Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS). A missed call campaign has been started by MNVS after a spate of incidents including paper leaks and wrong question paper, rocked the varsity. According to official data, the maximum complaints have been received from the engineering students.
“There has not been a single exam season which has gone without grievances and issues faced by students. So, we started the missed call campaign in Pune, a week ago to provide a platform for students to voice their complaints,” said Kalpesh Yadav, city president, MNVS.
Yadav revealed that they have received various type of complaints from the students like exam not starting on time, question paper being based on old syllabus in spite of the syllabus being updated.
“We are going to submit the same to the examination department of the SPPU next week. We are also going to demand for precautionary measures to be taken to problems in the future,” he said.
While recently, a first year law paper was uploaded on SPPU’s website before the examination, the third year computer engineering students got IT department’s question paper for ‘theory of computation’.
When quizzed about the complaints from students, N S Umrani, pro vice-chancellor, SPPU said , “All the problems faced by the students related to the examination will been addressed. We have told the examination department to enquire about it.”
