Corrupt PCMC fire department officials arrested for accepting bribe for issuing NOC

The complainant had applied for a no objection certificate (NOC) from the fire department. In exchange for processing his application and providing the NOC, the two officials, Wankhede and Mane, had accepted a bribe. Wankhede accepted Rs 15,000 while Mane accepted Rs 1,000 from the complainant.

Two officials of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's (PCMC) fire department were booked for bribery by the city unit of anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Saturday.

The two officials were identified as Uday Mahadev Wankhede, 52, a resident of Kamgarnagar in Pimpri, and Anil Sadashiv Mane, 32, a resident of Alandi. The complaint in the matter was filed by a 30-year-old who has a construction site in Wakad.

The complainant had applied for a no objection certificate (NOC) from the fire department. In exchange for processing his application and providing the NOC, the two officials, Wankhede and Mane, had accepted a bribe. Wankhede accepted Rs 15,000 while Mane accepted Rs 1,000 from the complainant.

The complainant approached ACB officials, who in-turn, set a trap and arrested the two men while accepting the bribe on Saturday. A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered with the city police against the two firemen.
