5000 dhol tasha players, Sachin Tendulkar to be roped in for 125th Pune Ganesh festival

The Pune Municipal Corporation is planning to celebrate the 125th Ganesh Festival with more enthusiasm and brand it at international level. The PMC had made the budgetary provision of Rs 2 crore to do branding of the festival.
This is the 125th year of the Ganesh festival which was started from Pune. To mark the 125th year, the civic body had planned various events in the city.
Mayor Mukta Tilak, Leader of House in PMC Srinath Bhimale and Standing Committee Chairman Murlidhar Mohol briefed the media about various activities this year.
Bhimale said that the civic body had planned to bring 5,000 ‘dhol tasha’ players on S P College ground to set a world record. Mayor Tilak said “It is historical for the city as the Ganesh festival would be celebrating 125th anniversary. The PMC wants to be part of this historic moment and wants to make this occasion memorable.”
The mayor said that she has been meeting with various Ganesh mandals and asking for suggestions.
Bhimale said that the PMC is planning to start a separate website and social media push, that will take the festival international.
PMC is also planning to create a logo for the Ganesh festival and it would be put on all major roads in the city.
Standing committee chairman Mohol said that for the first time the PMC has made a budgetary provision for the Ganesh festival.
Sachin Tendulkar likely brand ambassador for Ganesh festival
The Pune Municipal Corporation is trying to make Cricketer Sachin Tendular as a brand ambassador for the Pune’s Ganesh Festival which is going to celebrate its 125th anniversary. Leader of House who is in charge for approaching the Tendulkar said that the PMC is trying to get nod from Tendulkar for it. The opposition party leaders suggested that if the Tendulkar would not able to become brand ambassador for the Ganesh festival then think about Marathi actor Subodh Bhave who is from Pune city or film actor Nana Patekar. But PMC’s first priority is for Tendulkar.
