Pune man booked for raping three-year-old

The man took the girl from her residence under the pretext of taking her out to play. However, he sexually assaulted her instead.

An 18-year-old man was arrested for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl in the area under the Nigdi police jurisdiction.

The man identified as Shivprasad Yadav, a resident of Chikhali, was sent to police custody till December 14 by a local court in Pune, according to the police. The man took the girl from her residence under the pretext of taking her out to play. However, he sexually assaulted her instead.

A case under Sections 376 and 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 3, 4, 8, 12 of POCSO was registeredagainst Yadav at Nigdi police station. The case is being investigated by police sub-inspector SW Waghmare of Nigdi police station.

Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, the man and the child’s father had moved to Pune for work, according to the police. The family of the child knew Yadav and had helped him find a place to live, according to the police.

“He told the family that he was taking her for a bicycle ride. When he brought her back, she was crying. He told the parents that she had fallen off the steps leading up to his room on the second floor. However, the mother found her genitals bleeding and asked her what had happened,” PSI Waghmare said.

While the child’s father,who approached the police on Friday, works at a scrap dealer’s shop, her mother is a housewife, according to the police. The child was taken to Sassoon General Hospital for medical tests. The man had moved to Pune eight years ago and the family of the child had moved a few years before him.

Yadav lived with two others in his accommodation. However, they were all at work when the crime took place, according to the police.
