Seven Pune cops bag President’s Police medal for outstanding service

Pune police commissioner Rashmi Shukla and assistant commissioner Ravindra Kadam felicitated all seven officers at the Pune police commissionerate on Monday.

Seven police officers from the city were awarded the President’s Police medal on Independence day by Maharashtra Governor KC Vidyasagar Rao in Mumbai for their outstanding service. Pune police commissioner Rashmi Shukla and assistant commissioner Ravindra Kadam felicitated all seven officers at the Pune police commissionerate on Monday.

Those awarded include Balshiram Gaikar(deputy commissioner,Pune city), Vivek Muglikar(Senior police inspector, Pimpri), Rajkumar Mane(Asst.police inspector RTO), Kailas Mohol (Asst.police inspector), Chandrakant Raghatwan (Asst. police inspector, Warje), Suresh Jagtap (Asst.police inspector traffic) and Prakash Langhe (Police constable,Koregaon Park).

Besides officials from the city police, others awarded with the presidential medal include two from reserve police force, one from Railways and two from Prisons department. Among those include Prakash Naik of SRPF 1, Sadashiv Shinde of SRPF 2, jail officer Prakash Ukrande of Yerwada open prison. Besides them, head constable Ramesh Dhumal of Kolhapur Central Prison was also rewarded a police medal.

Gaikar was awarded for successfully investigating many cases and achieved convictions with life imprisonment in six cases. Gaikwar was also credited with investigating the double murder involving a woman and her paramour.

Mugalikar, who is currently posted in Pimpri police station, was awarded for successfully investigating and exposing the racket involved in fake degrees. While serving in the special branch, Mugalikar found out the fault in the vehicle in which the then Mauritius president, Aniruddha Jagannath, was to travel. Mugalikar also repaired the vehicle within minutes, averting a possible accident.
