5 injured in head-on collision in Punjab

The driver of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Zeta had dozed off and lost control of the car.

Five persons including a newly-wed couple sustained serious injuries after two cars rammed into each other on the Zirakpur-Patiala highway on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the police, the driver of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Zeta had dozed off and lost control of the car. He crossed over the median and rammed the car into the Ford Figo coming from Chandigarh.

The injured were rushed to Government medical college and hospital (GMCH) Sector 32, Chandigarh, where they are being treated.

The police are yet to record the statement of the injured and establish their identity.
