Sukhbir said that instead of passing the buck, the CM should tell the people of Punjab the whole truth that the changes in the syllabus for Class-12 were made during the tenure of his government.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, on Sunday, said that the Congress government should immediately accept its mistake in deletion of Sikh history in school books.

“The government should restore all 23 chapters and start teaching the history that had been taught for past many years in Class-12 history book,” Sukhbir added, in a release. “For us, it is a very solemn religious, academic and emotional issue. There is no scope for anyone to play politics with this sensitive issue,” he went on to add.
Sukhbir said that instead of passing the buck, the CM should tell the people of Punjab the whole truth that the changes in the syllabus for Class-12 were made during the tenure of his government. The history of each one of the great Gurus was being taught in Class-12 during 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and even last year, he added.
He also added that he was astonished at chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s statement that he (the CM) was open to constituting a fresh committee to re-examine the history books, if needed. The SAD has called a party meeting to chalk out next course of action on the issue on May 11.
