Deciding to act tough on agitating drivers, the Punjab government on Friday urged the Chandigarh administration to take proper action against drivers resorting to illegal activities by obstructing public servants.

“Considering the seriousness of the matter, the UT administration has been requested to maintain law and order situation around Punjab government offices in Chandigarh and take action against all those found resorting to such illegal activities,” a government spokesperson said in a release.

However, the government urged the agitating drivers to call off their strike and come forward to hold “meaningful negotiation”.
