A six-member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday started investigating the sacrilege incidents at Bargari village in this district.
The team comprises six members, including inspectors Amit Kumar, Sudesh Chander and Parchant Sharma.
Faridkot SSP Sukhminder Singh Mann said, “The CBI team has started investigation and we are providing the records, infrastructure and all kinds of support.”
The team was at Bargari village on Friday and will also visit Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village where the incident of sacrilege had taken place.
A bir of Guru Granth Sahib was stolen from the village gurdwara of Burj Jawahar Singh Wala on June 1 while its torn pages were found scattered on the streets of Bargari village near the gurdwara on October 12, which had led to protests and the killing of two protesters in police firing.
After the police failed to crack the sacrilege cases the government had handed these over to the CBI.
