Four killed in two separate road accidents in Moga
Two children were killed in one accident while a couple died in the other.
Four people, including a couple and two children, were killed in a two road accidents in Moga on Thursday.
The first incident took place at Dina Sahib village near Nihal Singh Wala in Moga at 8am when Virpal Kaur, 5, and Manjinder Kaur, 9, were crushed under a truck going towards Kangar village. They died on the spot.
Nihal Singh Wala deputy superintendent of police Subegh Singh said: “We have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). The bodies have been handed over to their families after post-mortem.”
In another incident, a couple was killed when a recovery van hit the two-wheeler they were riding on the Moga-Ludhiana highway near Gulabi Bagh, Moga, at 2pm. The deceased were identified as Manjit Singh, 45, and his wife Charanjit Kaur, 43, of Kapure village in Moga district. The police have arrested the recovery van driver, Joginder Singh. The couple is survived by three daughters.
Investigation officer Balvir Singh said a case under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC has been registered at the city police station, Moga. The post-mortem will be conducted on Friday.
