Health department collects 26 food samples to check adulteration

The district health department collected 26 food samples to check adulteration from different places in the city on Tuesday. The samples were collected by a team comprising food safety officers Ravinderpal Garg, Manoj Khosla, Harpreet Kaur and Yogest Goyal, under the guidance of district health officer (DHO) Dr Abnash Kumar.

The district health department collected 26 food samples to check adulteration from different places in the city on Tuesday. The samples were collected by a team comprising food safety officers Ravinderpal Garg, Manoj Khosla, Harpreet Kaur and Yogest Goyal, under the guidance of district health officer (DHO) Dr Abnash Kumar.

Samples of refined oil, sauces and pie were collected from Civil Lines area, while samples of biscuits, besan, and turmeric powder were collected from the Urban Estate area. The team also collected samples of sauces, juice, cream, lassi, milk, soft drinks, pulses, jam, vanaspati ghee, rice, mustard oil, salt, red chilly powder and namkeen, etc., from the market and shops on Chandigarh Road.

DHO Abnash Kumar said samples were sent to the food laboratory in Chandigarh for testing, adding that action would be initiated as per rules after getting the reports from the lab.
