The court of Additional Session Judge HS Grewal on Tuesday framed charges against six accused, including a woman, in Ludhiana acid attack case that shocked the city on December 7, last year.
As per the charges, the six accused, including Amitpal Kaur, Parwinder Singh, Sunpreet Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Gursewak Singh Brar and Rakesh Kumar were booked under Section 302 (murder) 326-A (damage or grievous hurt caused by acid) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy to commit an offence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The next hearing in the case would take place on May 21 for prosecution of the evidence.
Earlier on December 9, the police had claimed to have solved the case with the arrest of all six accused, including Amitpal Kaur alias Dimpy, who had hatched the conspiracy.
It must be mentioned that the accused had thrown acid on Harpreet Kaur of Barnala at Lakme Beauty Salon in Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana on December 7, last year. The incident took place just a few hours before her marriage when she had come to the salon for her makeup. In the incident three other women, including two beauticians too suffered burn injuries.
The victim was airlifted to National Burn Centre Mumbai on December 12, but succumbed to her injuries on December 27.
Later, the police had added murder sections in the FIR lodged against the accused at Sarabha Nagar police station.
