Congress doesn’t need your sermons: Capt to Sukhbir

The political brinkmanship between the Congress and ruling Shiromani Akali Dal has escalated after appointment of Captain Amarinder Singh as state Congress chief.

After accepting deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal’s challenge and announcing his coronation at Bathinda, the citadel of ruling Badals, Amarinder on Sunday took on the SAD president for demanding action against Congress leaders who attended the radical Sarbat Khalsa.
“You better mind your own business than meddle in our party affairs,” Captain told Sukhbir, advising him not to try to preach peace and nationalism to the Congress, which unlike the Badals, has a record of sacrifices to fight terrorism.
“Sukhbir and chief minister Parkash Singh Badal’s neurotic breast-beating about Congress leaders who attended the Sarbat Khalsa is like devil quoting scriptures. They attended it purely as true Sikhs and you should better take action against Virsa Singh Valtoha who said in the Punjab assembly that “he was a terrorist, is a terrorist and will always be a terrorist.” he said in a statement.
Asserting that the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ was a religious congregation, he said, Sukhbir by trying to accuse all those who attended it as “Khalistanis” was hurting the religious sentiments of the entire community.
“It was Badal who pronounced former chief minister Beant Singh’s assassin Balwant Singh Rajoana as Zinda Shaheed and bring back another life convict Devinderpal Singh Bhullar to Amritsar and treat him as a state guest,” said Amarinder.
