Rape victim ‘gangraped’ by husband, brothers-in-law in Ludhiana

A woman, who was raped last year, again alleged that she was gangraped by her husband and his two brothers in a factory.
She alleged that her husband has also threatened that they will repeat the crime. The Basti Jodhewal police have registered a case under Sections 376-D (gangrape), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 427 (mischief) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC against her husband, a resident of Kailash Nagar and his elder brothers Arun Vij and Vicky Vij.
The woman alleged that the Ludhiana police did not listen to her pleas and failed to take any action following which she made a complaint to director general of police (DGP) Suresh Arora in Chandigarh. After his intervention,the Ludhiana police have registered the case.

In her complaint to police, the victim said the accused Happy runs a mobile recharge shop in Kailash Nagar where she used to come and they became friends. She alleged that on February 17, 2016 Happy raped her and she lodged an FIR against him at Basti Jodhewal police station. Happy was arrested and was sent to jail. Meanwhile, the accused proposed her for marriage and she nodded. She withdrew the complaint after their marriage.
Meanwhile, on December 19, 2016 Happy called her in a factory in Jaspal Nagar where Happy and his brothers’ allegedly gangraped her.
