Hisar-based RTI activist Manoj Karwasar has demanded installation of CCTV cameras inside the police stations all over the country to curb cops' 'highhandedness' with the public.
He has written to National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), New Delhi, urging to take steps to ensure transparency and dispel fear of police in the public. He said that CCTV cameras would keep a tab on the alleged nexus between police and criminals and would work as a deterrent against using third degree on suspects or accused. Karwasara said that his petition had been accepted by the NHRC.
