The team of Vijay’s next project, tentatively titled Thalapathy 62, is currently being shot in Kolkata at breakneck speed. The team is said to be canning some action sequences under the supervision of Ram-Lakshman stunt choreographers. The film stars Keerthy Suresh as the leading lady and it’s her second time collaboration with Vijay after Bairavaa. Over the last few days, rumours have been doing the rounds that Julie of Bigg Boss fame has been roped in to play a pivotal role. However, reliable sources have rubbished the reports.

“It’s absolutely baseless. Julie is not part of the project. We don’t know from where these reports originate,” a source from the film’s unit said. Over the weekend, there were reports that Shivaay actress Sayyeshaa has been roped in to play the second leading lady. She brushed aside the reports and said that she was not even approached for the role in the first place.

While Vijay is riding high after the stupendous success of Mersal, AR Murugadoss is keen on a hit as his last project Spyder failed to impress.

The film marks their third time collaboration between AR Murugadoss and actor Vijay after Thuppakki and Kaththi. Tipped to be another action-based social drama, the film will have music by AR Rahman, who has teamed up with Vijay for the second time in a row after last year’s blockbuster Mersal. The project was officially launched with a pooja in Chennai last month. Sun Pictures, best known for producing Rajinikanth’s Enthiran, is bankrolling the project on a lavish budget. While it has already been confirmed that Girish Gangadharan, the young lensman whose recent work includes Kali and Solo, has been signed on for the project, editor Sreekar Prasad, who has worked with Murugadoss in projects such as Thuppakki and Spyder, is also part of the film.
