Trisha agreed to do Nayaki in five minutes, says director Govi
Actress Trisha Krishnan agreed to do the Tamil horror-comedy Nayaki in just five minutes when director Govi narrated the film’s story to her.
Director Govi said actress Trisha Krishnan took just five minutes to agree to be part of forthcoming Tamil horror-comedy Nayaki when he narrated the film to her.
“It took just five minutes of narration to convince Trisha to do the film. I wasn’t sure when she said ‘yes’ the first time, so I even asked her again to confirm it. She felt the script had the potential to be a hit and even be liked by critics,” said Govi.
The film’s story is set in 1980s and Trisha will be seen as a 20-year-old, and in a dual role for the first time in her career.
Govi calls Nayaki a retro horror-comedy, a genre that hasn’t been attempted before.
“Trisha will be mostly seen in the 1980s look. The story will go back and forth in time. The film is 98 percent comedy and two percent horror,” said the director, who will be making his Tamil directorial debut with the film.
Trisha is the ‘hero’ of the film, says Govi, who is also her biggest fan. “Although there’s a male lead in the film, Trisha is my hero. I’m her biggest fan and I’ve always wanted to make a film with her,” he said.
The film, which also stars Ganesh Venkatraman, Satyam Rajesh and Sushma Raj, is slated for release on Friday.
