Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, who recently took full-time plunge into politics, is expected to commence work on Indian 2 sometime later this year. The project will reunite Haasan with director Shankar after two decades and the sequel has already created maximum buzz in the trade and amidst fans of the franchise. Speaking at a college in Chennai, Haasan pointed out that if Indian 2 is made in current political scenario, it’ll face lot of problems. He added that a lot of his films from the past can’t be made today.

“I won’t be able to make Anbe Sivam today. If I do I will have court cases. Today if I do Dasavatharam, I will have court cases. If I do Varumayin Niram Sigappu, I will have to face problems. Who knows? They may even create problems for Indian 2,” Haasan said in his speech, as reported by Indian Express. He went on to add: “There is no controversy. They create it. You tell me what is the controversy in Padmaavat? School children are being stoned in the name of a film and hurt pride. That’s ridiculous.”

In Indian 2, Haasan will return as the freedom fighter turned vigilante Senapathy. Popular Telugu producer Dil Raju was excited to be associated with the project and he had said it’s been long-time desire to work with Shankar. However, even before the project could start rolling, Raju exited the project for reasons quite yet unknown. Lyca Productions, the makers of 2.0 are said to have taken over the reins of the project. It is also believed that young sensation composer Anirudh Ravichander has been signed for Indian 2, which will be shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu.
