Asian Games 2026, Day 14: India's historic result in women's hockey raises tally to 6 gold medals for the day

India have raced back into the recurve archery mixed team semi-final. They were 3-1 down after two rounds, but managed to stage an incredible comeback in the third round to make it 3-3. The team of Kumkum Mohod and Dhiraj Bommadevara will now look for a draw or win to seal their spot in the final.

One of India's biggest wrestling medal hopefuls at the Asian Games, Sujeet Kalkal begins his campaign in the men's 65 kg freestyle category in style. He defeated Sayed Omar Zazai of Afghanistan in the Round of 16 to advance to the quarter-final.

India have started their recurve archery mixed team semi-final on the backfoot. The team of Kumkum Mohod and Dhiraj Bommadevara shot 36 points, while the Japan team snatched 38. The Japanese team have thus taken a 2-0 lead after the first set.

India are all set to take on Japan in the semi-final of the mixed-team event of recurve archery. A win would guarantee the nation their second medal of the day in recurve, after the women's team won a historic gold medal.

Priya Malik loses in the Round of 16 match in the women's 76kg category against Kyzy Medet of Kyrgyzstan. This is the third straight wrestling loss for India on Day 14. Like the others, she too might have a chance at bronze in case Medet qualifies for the final.

It's not been a great start to India's wrestling contingent at the Asian Games 2026 day 15. Rajat Ruhal falls to Yedige Kassimbek by a margin of 3-8 in the Round of 16 at the men's 60kg category. Ruhal still has a chance for a bronze medal if Kassimbek qualifies for the final of the event.

Deepanshi had a tough bout against one of the favourites Yiu Susaki of Japan in the Round of 16 of the women's 60kg category. She could not stand a chance as she was decimated by the Japanese veteran. She still has a chance to win a bronze medal should she enter the repechage round. That will only happen if Susaki reaches the final.

India begin Day 14 with a gold medal, and it was nothing short of historic. The team of Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma, and Kumkum Mohod achieved the first gold for India in this event in Asiad history. They also became the first team in history to beat archery giants South Korea in the final in Asiad history. What a phenomenal achievemet.

In the third set, India have taken a lead for the first time as they get closer to a historic medal. South Korea missed the mark a lot, as they scored 51 points. India on the other hand, scored 56 points. They have taken a 4-2 lead. In the 4th set, India need to either draw or win this set to win the tie and clinch a historic gold medal.

India are not bowing down to the archery titans that are South Korea. In the second set, both teams scored 56 points. While Ankita Bhakat, and Kumkum Mohod havre looked sharp, nailing a couple of 10s, it has been Kirti Sharma who has missed the mark, and scored two 8s in the round. The scores are still level 2-2 after two rounds. Can India get the edge over their final opponents?

India and South Korea go neck and neck in the first set of the final. Both teams hit 54 points Round 1, as it came to a tie. Hence both teams share 1 point each as the score reads 1-1. Let's see what happens in the next few sets.

The women's recurve archery team has the chance to create history as the are up next. They need to keep their nerves and take on the World No.1 ranked South Korea team. Can India do vercome the odds and win the first gold medal of the day?

In the Group A match of the sepaktakraw women's quadrant, Thailand have absolutely decimated India. They take the second set by a margin of 15-4, as they win the match in straight sets. India have thus bowed out of the event, after losing all three of their group games.

The Indian women's recurve archery team have created history. In the semi-final of the Asian Games 2026, they have defeated China, and qualified for the final. This is the first time in history that India have reached a final at this event. In the ultimate gold medal clash they face the mighty South Korea.

In the women's recurve archery semi-final, India have gotten a massive advantage over China having won the first two sets. One more set and the team of Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma, and Kumkum Mohod will be assured of a silver medal.

The Indian women's quadrant Groyp A match between India and Thailand has begun on the backfoot for the country. They were downed 13-15 by their opponents in the first set, as they lost it and now trail 0-1.
