After a long and controversial contract holdout, the Dallas Cowboys ended up trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers on August 28, in exchange for defensive tackle Kenny Clart and two first-round draft picks. The move also saw Parsons become the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, agreeing to a four-year, 188 million Dollars contract.

It wasn't just Green Bay Packers, who were interested in his signature. According to ESPN, even the Philadelphia Eagles were extremely interested in Parsons during the offseason. But Cowboys owner Jerry Jones showed no interest in trading him to a division rival.

ESPN's Adam Schefter wrote on X, "One team that made a strong play this summer to try to trade for All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons was none other than the Philadelphia Eagles, per league sources. The Eagles called the Cowboys to see if they could acquire Parsons and bring him back to Pennsylvania."

"But the Cowboys had no interest in trading Parsons in the division, especially to the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles, whom they open with tonight."

Also, it was the Eagles who helped the Cowboys bag Parsons in the 2021 NFL draft. The two teams had swapped first-round picks, with Philadelphia moving to No. 10 to select WR DeVonta Smith. Dallas used the No. 12 pick on Parsons.

Parsons was picked by the Cowboys in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft, and he was named Defensive Rookie of the Year. He also bagged four Pro Bowl and three All-Pro selections in four seasons with the side.

Parsons spent four seasons with Dallas and registered 52.5 sacks, 112 quarterback hits, 63 tackles for loss and nine forced fumbles.
