Wimbledon title favourite Karolina Pliskova crashed to a shock second round defeat against world number 108 Magdalena Rybarikova on Thursday. Rybarikova battled back from a set down to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 on Centre Court, earning the Slovakian a last 32 clash with Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko. Three-time champion Novak Djokovic, on the other hand, reached the third round for the ninth successive year with a 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 win over Adam Pavlasek of the Czech Republic on Thursday. Ernests Gulbis of Latvia sprung a surprise when a knocked out Argentine Juan Martin del Potro in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 7-6(3).

Roger Federer too reached the third round after defeating Dusan Lajovic 7-6(0), 6-3, 6-2 on Thursday.
