Referring to the excerpts of the book that were released on Friday, Abhijit Mukherjee said they were “motivated” and the former President would not have approved of them. Daughter Sharmishta however ashed her brother not to create any unnecessary hurdles.

The veteran Congress leader, who died at the age of 84 on Monday, was cremated with full state honours on Tuesday. Abhijit Mukherjee performed his last rites and the family and relatives paid their last respects clad in PPE kits.

The son of former president Pranab Mukherjee, Abhijit Mukherjee had won against Muzaffar Hussain of the Communist Party of India(Marxist) for the second time in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. Abhijit had held the Jangipur Lok Sabha since 2009 when he had defeated Hussain.
