Construction ban lifted as winds help clear Delhi’s air

The transport department on Friday lifted the January 9 ban on vehicles with older emission standards. Under stage III, states have the option to ban such vehicles

The Commission for Air Quality Management had invoked stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan on January 6, when the Air Quality Index had touched 400 (very poor).

Delhi is India’s most polluted city: Study

On the list of most polluted cities, Faridabad ranks second with an annual PM2.5 concentration of 95.6µg/m3, followed by Ghaziabad (91.25µg/m3), as per the analysis. But while NCR cities rank poorly in the analysis, they have done much better than Delhi to reduce their PM2.5 levels.

Non-essential construction & demolition banned in Delhi as air quality worsens

While under Stage III of GRAP, states also have the option to enforce a ban on BS III petrol and BS IV diesel vehicles, which was enforced the last time Delhi’s air went in the ‘severe’ category, Delhi’s transport department officials say a decision on this will be taken soon.

Farm fires hit 2-week low as winds dissuade farmers
