Hurricane Lee charges through the open Atlantic, approaches northeast Caribbean

US downs Chinese balloon over ocean, moves to recover debris

Tropical storm Josephine weakens slightly in Atlantic Ocean

The storm had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (65 kph) and was located about 680 miles (1,090 kilometers) east-southeast of the northern Leeward Islands, the US National Hurricane Center stated in its 5 a.m. advisory.
