Woman throws four kids into river, 2 die

Reports said that Priyanka brought her four children to the Kesham ghat and administered something to them before throwing them into the river one by one. One child, aged around eight years, managed to escape and ran back to the village to seek help. The police responded quickly and took Priyanka into custody.

U.P.CM: Destitute women’s pension to be increased

CM Yogi Adityanath announced an increase in monthly pension for destitute women in Uttar Pradesh, in line with BJP's pre-poll promise. He also inaugurated and laid foundation for various projects in Kanpur. Adityanath praised PM Modi for the recitation of Ramayan in temples and the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He emphasized the contribution of Valmiki and criticized previous governments for dividing society on caste and regional lines. Adityanath assured guaranteed minimum wages for sanitation workers and mentioned the establishment of a new township for the families affected by a mishap last year. He also announced the construction of a new industrial city near Kanpur.

The CM’s announcement to increase destitute women’s pension is in line with the party’s pre-poll promise as in its 2022 Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra, the BJP had promised to raise the amount for destitute women to <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>1,500. (HT FILE)

Day after CM’s order, women appointed to head Jaunpur, Auraiya police stations

In Jaunpur, superintendent of police (SP) Ajay Pal Sharma gave the responsibility of Sureri police station to inspector Priyanka Singh hours after the CM’s order.

The CM’s instructions came close on the heels of Parliament giving its nod to the women’s reservation bill, paving the way for 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. (File)
