Ex-Vasai corporator arrested for constructing 41 illegal buildings in Achole

The Economic Offences Wing of Mira-Bhayander-Vasai-Virar police arrested Gupta on Wednesday. He has been remanded in police custody till September 27. Recently, the police unearthed that Gupta had allegedly prepared a bogus completion certificate for one of the buildings issued in the name of CIDCO and the Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC).

According to the police, Gupta along with his brother Arun Gupta and their accomplices had acquired 30 acres of land belonging to private owners and an additional 30 acres of land reserved for water purification plants and dumping grounds and sold it to various builders after acquiring fake ownership documents (HT PHOTO)

CIDCO to lay 20 crore net to prevent landslides in Uran hill

CIDCO has assured residents of Varche Ovale village in Navi Mumbai that it will allocate ₹20 crore to lay a safety net atop a hill to prevent rocks from rolling down and posing a threat to the residents. This comes after repeated instances of tumbling rocks and mudslides in the area. CIDCO will invite tender bids for a metal safety net that is estimated to be 300 wide and 10 meters long.

On May 3, 2018, the UDD issued a six-point directive in which point 2 made it mandatory upon local governing bodies to publish information about illegal construction both via newspapers as well as on the government website

15 years on, CIDCO pays 42 L maintenance dues to NRI Ph II colony

“For the past 15 years, society dues for 40 flats under CIDCO were pending. The management committees over the years tried their best and submitted the requisite documents, but the money did not come,” Deepak Yewale, committee member, said.

A meeting was held with the MD and was attended by the managing committee and Mhatre. Diggikar assured the members that the payments would be made if they submitted valid proof of the demands. The documents were then submitted to CIDCO, and they followed up on the issue. (HT Photo)

6.5-acre plot handed over for houses for Irshalwadi landslide-affected

CIDCO managing director Anil Diggikar said that each house would be of approximately 600 square feet. “We got the plot on Wednesday, and our joint managing director Kailash Shinde is working on the details,” he said. A CIDCO officer said that the families of the victims would increase in the next 15 years and thus there had to be scope for this expansion

CIDCO to implement PMAY scheme through private agencies

CIDCO's outsourcing of marketing and allotment of mass houses under the PMAY scheme has come under scrutiny. Two private agencies were appointed by CIDCO to handle sales and promotions of affordable housing projects. The Navi Mumbai Congress Block unit has called for an inquiry into the process, claiming it is a major scam. The agencies have already been paid over ₹100 crore in advances, despite no sales having been made. CIDCO officials defend the appointment, stating it was necessary to meet the target of providing affordable housing.

Relief for Navi Mumbai developers as state clarifies on permissible FSI for CIDCO plots

The state government has clarified that a basic FSI of 1.5 and an additional building potential of 0.50 is permitted for plots leased by CIDCO in Navi Mumbai, providing relief to developers. The clarification comes after CIDCO reportedly denied the FSI to developers due to a different interpretation of regulations. The clarification allows projects that were stuck for almost 10 months to move forward without paying additional premiums. CIDCO has not commented on the development.

Bombay High Court has given a month's deadline to CIDCO, MMRDA and Mumbai city district to hand over over 1,000 hectares of mangroves to the forest department for conservation. Environmental groups are critical of the slow progress in adhering to court orders dating back to September 2018, with some calling for the case to be filed by the HC panel itself. A meeting chaired by Dr Rajendra Bhosale has issued clear-cut directions to all concerned officials to file action-taken reports by the next session.

Navi Mumbai Metro set to roll, Line No. 1 receives final clearance

The Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 has received final permission to begin commercial operations, following a 12-year wait and a cost of INR3,063.63 crore ($410m). The line runs between Belapur and Pendhar and features 11 stations, with a car depot for maintenance at Taloja. The first phase of the project was initiated in May 2011, but was delayed by a cancelled contract and engineering issues. Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation has been appointed to complete work on the line and will also operate and maintain it for 10 years at a cost of INR885 crore plus taxes.
