A flood-free Mumbai is a fairy tale. Even if one were to stop all destruction of mangroves, salt pan lands, construction of “infrastructure” projects in sensitive areas and clean up and desilt our water bodies -- which obviously is not happening -- the extreme sea level rise (SLR) over the next 20 years, along with our already compromised drainage system, will ensure that Mumbai will get flooded.
