Misrepresentation of Anandpur Sahib resolution: SAD seeks rectification of NCERT book

The Shiromani Akali Dal party has condemned the inclusion of the Anandpur Sahib resolution in new NCERT textbooks as a "separatist document." The party claims that this is a conspiracy to defame the Sikh community and demands that the wrong interpretation be withdrawn immediately. The NCERT textbook chapter on regional aspirations mentions the resolution and the demand for regional autonomy, which the SAD claims advocates for the strengthening of federalism, not a separate Sikh nation. The SAD also calls for the correction of misinterpreted facts in the textbooks and the inclusion of Punjab's history.

SAD leader Prem Singh Chandumajra said a party delegation would also meet the Union education minister and apprise him about key facts that had been twisted with regard to the Anandpur Sahib resolution and the Shiromani Akali Dal. (HT Photo)
