Ex Bigg Boss contestant, Mandana Karimi recently filed a domestic violence case against her in-laws earlier this month but the controversy has still not been put to rest. According to a report in Spotboye, Mandana was also not very eager to welcome actor Smriti Khanna as her sister-in-law.
The tabloid quoted a source as saying that Mandana would meet Smriti at family functions but made it clear to her husband that she will not share a home with her. “Mandana hated Smriti. They caught up with each other in family functions. Smriti was quite good to her, but Mandana made it clear to Gaurav that she will not share the same house with Smriti,” the source said.
Mandana married Gaurav Gupta in March this year and filed a case against him and his family five months later. A Bollywood Life report had said that she was barred from entering her home by Gaurav, and has also filed a complaint against her mother-in-law for harassment.
According to earlier reports, Mandana also alleges that she was asked to quit her career after getting married. The Bollywood Life report claims that she was forced to convert to Hinduism before her wedding, which Mandana refused to do.
Smirti appeared on hit television soap Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi where she met her co-star Gautam Gupta, younger brother of Gaurav. Smriti and Gautam are now engaged and will soon tie the knot.
When asked of her equation with Mandana, Smriti refused to address the issue but said that the entire episode has not changed her opinion of her in-laws. “My parents and I are sure of what I am going to do. They have no doubts about the Gupta family, not then neither now. I trust Gautam and his family and they are very good with me,” she told SpotBoye.
About the controversy, Mandana said that she still loves her husband and has not divorced him.She says she had an argument with Gaurav, after which, she went to her friend’s place to calm herself down. “When I returned, they wouldn’t let me enter and have stopped communicating with me,” she said. She says it’s been seven weeks and she has still not been let in.
“I’ve been staying with friends or in a hotel, it’s been really tough. Where will I get the money to survive?,” she said. Mandana’s family lives in Iran and are unable to visit her in Mumbai.
“Some of my friends have come down but my family is not here and I don’t have a place to stay. I am not in touch with anyone from Bigg Boss so I don’t think any of them are aware of my plight,” she said.
Even though his family hasn’t allowed her back in, Mandana says she still loves Gaurav. “I didn’t leave my house, I love it. I haven’t been allowed to enter the house or even my husband’s office but that doesn’t mean I should get divorced. I am still his wife, I love Gaurav. I haven’t filed for divorce, I have only filed a domestic violence case,” she said.
