In 1946, after the trauma of World War II, Peggy takes on an administrative position at the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR). But she also carries out secret missions for Howard Stark, the father of Tony Stark (aka Iron Man). At the same time, the courageous young woman attempts to recover from the loss of her true love, Steve Rogers, better known to Marvel fans as Captain America.

Seen in the previous two movies on the American super-soldier, Peggy Carter and Howard Stark are again played by Hayley Atwell and Dominic Cooper in the new series. One Tree Hill alum Chad Michael Murray joins the cast as Agent Jack Thompson.

Agent Carter will be Marvel's second series to premiere on the small screen. In 2013, the comics specialist teamed with ABC to launch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which entered its second season last September. This May, Marvel will bring its superhero universe to Netflix in Daredevil. The new drama series will be followed by several others on various Marvel characters over the coming years, all to be launched in collaboration with Netflix.
