After setting up a panel to study AFSPA withdrawal, govt extends law in Nagaland

The Union Govt has extended the application of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Nagaland. Recently, the Nagaland Assembly unanimously resolved to demand the withdrawal of AFSPA in the state. The demand for withdrawal of the controversial law surged after 14 civilian deaths this month. Terming Nagaland's condition 'disturbed and dangerous', the govt has extended AFSPA by 6 months.
