After anti-CAA resolution, Rajasthan Speaker says state will have to implement law
Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi sparked a controversy. Congress' CP Joshi said that state governments will have to implement CAA. Joshi said that states do not have the right to legislate on citizenship. Interestingly, Rajasthan Assembly had passed an anti-CAA resolution on Jan 25. Joshi said, “As per the system, once the Centre makes a law on subjects in Concurrent List, then no state can make a law in its contravention. This is the discussion going on in the country. Government of India made a law on citizenship. This is the law. State governments don't have any choice.”
