In a forceful response just days after President Trump and Hungarian PM Viktor Orban slammed the EU’s policies and global role during their White House meeting, EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas used a landmark summit with Latin America and Caribbean states to reaffirm Europe’s commitment to partnership, prosperity, and the rule of law. Kallas announced over €31 billion in regional investment and highlighted deepening trade, digital, and energy cooperation through the Global Gateway. She called for greater unity in facing global volatility and doubled down on ambitious climate action, more sanctions on Russia, and support for Ukraine, pledging the EU will remain a stable, principled partner for the region despite rising nationalist challenges.
