Rampur in Shimla District of Himachal Pradesh that hosts the annual centuries old Indo-Tibetan trade fair in November is also famous for the Phag festival. Located around 130 kilometeres north of Shimla, Rampur is abuzz with the Phag festival observed prior to the advent of the New Year as per Hindi calendar. The word Phag is derived from the Sanskrit word Phalgun (also spelt as Falgun). It is one of the oldest fairs in the Himachal region where one can witness the cultural heritage of the locals.
