Lata Mangeshkar, the ‘Queen of Melody’ has left a deep void in millions of hearts. The Nightingale of India belonged to a family of talented performers. The first of the 5 children of renowned Marathi theatre actor – Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar, Lata was born in Indore in 1929. She began her career at the age of 5, when she started acting in her father’s musical plays. In 1942 at the age of 13, Lata recorded her first playback song for a Marathi film, Kiti Hasaal.
