FIFA World Cup 2018: Birkir Már Saevarsson - Footballer who works in a salt-packing factory

Birkir Mar Saevarsson, who plays for an Iceland club called Valur and is a defender in the Iceland team in the FIFA World Cup 2018, is not only an international footballer, but he works in a salt-packing factory. In a chat, Saevarsson says it is normal for a football player to work in a factory. “This is normal for an Icelander (working in factory), you know. It's more normal than going to a World Cup. To work all day and go to training. It's the normal thing to do.”When asked about the team, he said, “When the group (Iceland team) meets, it's not like a football team is meeting. It's like a group of friends, you know. Coming together after not seeing each other for 10 years, you know. Every time. So it's a fantastic group. It's like 22 brothers. Or 23. I think it's easier (Iceland team being friends makes it easier to play together). When you're that close to someone it's easier to put demands on each other and not taking it personally like if one of your friends shouts at you to do something better you just, you know, you don't take it badly or personally, you just, you know, decide to do it because it's your friend (Video credit: SNTV).”
