“I want justice”: SP worker tries to self-immolate; Anger over candidate list

After the Samajwadi Party and RLD alliance in Uttar Pradesh released its second candidate list for the upcoming polls, a SP worker tried to self-immolate himself in Lucknow. A video of the dramatic scenes outside Samajwadi Party headquarters in Lucknow has now gone viral. SP worker Aditya Thakur claimed that he was forced to take the extreme move because he was denied a ticket by the Samajwadi Party. “I have worked for the party in constituency 74 of Chharra (Aligarh) in the last 5 years.
