After Chinese app ban, NSA Ajit Doval speaks on new Cyber Security Strategy

India's National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, spoke on cyber crime and security at Kerala Police's c0c0n conference. He said that India had seen a 500% jump in cyber crime, which was mainly attributable to poor online hygiene. However, he said that given the greater dependence on cyberspace, especially amid Work From Home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the government is working on a Cyber Security Strategy. Security, strength, and synergy would be the three pillars of the strategy, he said. Doval's comments came weeks after the Government of India banned multiple Chinese apps, including famous ones like TikTok and PUBG, over fears regarding data theft, surveillance, and national security. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the Cyber Security Strategy in his 2020 Independence Day speech.
