Chetan Chauhan, ex-India cricketer & UP minister, passes away due to Covid

Serving Uttar Pradesh minister and former India cricketer Chetan Chauhan passed away due to Covid-19 on August 16. He had been hospitalised since July due to the Covid infection. He was aged 73 and is survived by wife Sangeeta and son Vinayak. He was UP's Sainik Welfare, Home Guard, PRD and Civil Security minister. Chauhan had played 40 Tests and 7 ODIs, charting 2,084 Test runs with 16 half-centuries. He shared 11 Test century stands with Sunil Gavaskar, with 10 of them for the opening wicket. Tributes poured in from across the political and sporting worlds. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was anguished by Chauhan's passing away while UP CM Yogi Adityanath expressed anguish at his colleague's death. Current and former cricketers including Virat Kohli, Anil Kumble, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir also condoled his death. Watch the full video for more.
