Opposition boycotts joint session on constitution day, holds protest

As the joint session of Parliament was being held, opposition parties protested in front of the Ambedkar statue in the Parliament. The protest was attended by several top leaders from the Congress, DMK and the Trinamool Congress. The opposition parties had boycotted the joint session alleging that democracy had been murdered in Maharashtra. Interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi even read a part of the constitution as part of the protests against the government.
