Watch | Durga visarjan leaves Yamuna more polluted

One of the most important and widely celebrated, the Durga pooja ended with Bijoya on Tuesday. This year too it was celebrated with gusto. As per the tradition, the idol is immersed in water on the last day of this 10-day festival. Thousands of idols were immersed in Yamuna with much fanfare. But after the festivities end, what is left is just debris. The Yamuna has been classified as class I by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Which means that it is one of the most polluted rivers in the country. With each passing year, the condition of the river at such times just gets worse.
