Watch: PM Modi lights diya at Dev Deepawali event; ‘inheritance’ jibe at oppn
Prime Minister Narendra Modi lit the customary first diya and launched the Dev Deepawali Mahotsav at the Raj Ghat in Varanasi. Some 15 lakh diyas lit up on the ghats of Ganga to mark the beginning of celebrations on the occasion of Kartik Purnima. The Prime Minister said that the Maa Annapurna statue which had been stolen from India is now coming back. PM Modi also took a jibe at the opposition and added that many such statues could have been brought back to the country if efforts had been made earlier. 'Some people's thinking is different. For us, inheritance means heritage. For some inheritance means their own family,' PM Modi added. Dev Deepawali is a function after Deepawali when a large number of lamps are lit on the banks of rivers and other places on Kartik Purnima. PM Modi was also accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Watch the full video for all the details.
