Lauding the extraordinary courage and valour of Indian citizens, the central government announced National Bravery Awards for twenty-three children in New Delhi on Monday. The awardees were selected by a committee comprising representatives of various ministries, Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW) members. They will be given medals, certificates and cash award by the prime minister ahead of the Republic Day celebrations on Jan 26. One of the awardees shared his experience of saving a girl from drowning in a river.
