48-hr Maoist bandh disrupts normal life

The 48-hour five state shutdown by Maoists from Wednesday, to protest the killing of a senior leader, hit parts of Jharkhand and West Bengal. The Central government has asked Maoist-hit states to remain vigilant and take all possible steps to foil any attempt of violence, including hostage-like situations.
