50 per cent Panchayat seats to be reserved for women

India's cabinet on Thursday approved 50 per cent reservation for women in village councils across the country. Under Indian constitution atleast 33 per cent seats in the village councils are reserved for women but the various provinces have the liberty to raise this number.
