Assembly 'powerless' in PoK
The situation in PoK is cause for worry for people of the quasi-province and the rest of Pakistan. A problem that has festered for long and many administrations have tried to stifle its people's aspirations. PoK has a President, a Prime Minister and a Legislature of its own, but it is not a country, nor is it a province of Pakistan. It has been ruled by Islamabad under a special status since the formation of PoK Council, a constitutional body established under section 21 of the PoK Interim Constitution Act, 1974. The Council retains all crucial powers like nationality, citizenship, finance, defense, external affairs including foreign trade and foreign aid.
