Autorickshaw drivers in Mumbai remained off the roads, as part of a union strike called by Sharad Rao's Mumbai Autorickshawmen's Union (MAU) and demanded fare hike. The announcement of the strike came after the Mumbai's transport authority increased the fares for the first 1.6 kilometres by just a rupee, which would be put into practice from April 20.The strike hit Mumbaikars hard as they had to bear the brunt by standing in long serpentine queues at bus stops of the city.
