Economy will be protected says new Finance Minister

India's new finance minister Pranab Mukherjee asserted that all efforts would be made to protect the economy from the vagaries of global financial downturn. He said this while speaking to media persons in the national capital, New Delhi on Saturday after taking over as the Finance Minister.
